Project Leader (Health Information Systems)
Simon McBride is the Health Informatics Stream Leader for the P-Health Flagship's Neurodegenerative Diseases, Brain Health and Mental Disorders Theme. In this role Simon provides advice to the Theme Leader on the application of health informatics to neurodegenerative disease research, leads the Health Information Systems (HIS) project and assists the other Project Leaders in delivering outcomes for the Flagship. The Health Information Systems team works closely with the Health Information Environment project to develop novel approaches to capturing and analysing longitudinal health information. Simon also manages the aehrc.com web site, represents AEHRC within the Open Health Tools community and contributes to commercialisation activities across the Centre.
Previously Simon was the software architect for the Health Data Integration (HDI) product, Project Leader for the Australian Cancer Grid's Merging Surveillance Databases (MSD) project and held team management roles for the Lab's software engineers, consultants and data managers.
Before joining CSIRO, Simon spent a number of years working as a software developer at various early stage start-up companies in the United Kingdom along with two stints at the Distributed Systems Technology Centre (DSTC) in research and commercialisation roles. He holds a Master of Business Administration (Entrepreneurship and Finance) from Queensland University of Technology and a Bachelor of Applied Science (Computing) from Central Queensland University.
